What Happens to Your Donated Paddle Board?
Every donated inflatable paddle board is different.
Once we receive a board, we inspect it and determine the best opportunity for giving it a second life.
Whenever practical, we may:
Repair It: Some paddle boards are discarded because of relatively small problems.
A leaking valve, small puncture or damaged component doesn’t necessarily mean the entire paddle board has reached the end of its useful life.
If we believe a board can reasonably be repaired, we may repair and test it so that it can potentially be used again.
Reuse It: A board that is no longer useful to one paddler may still have life left in it.
Usable donated boards may be cleaned, repaired, refurbished or offered to another owner with their condition clearly disclosed.
Upcycle It: Sometimes the paddle board itself can’t reasonably return to the water, but parts of it can still be useful.
Valves, fins, handles, D-rings, bungees, fin boxes, PVC material and other usable components may potentially be recovered for repairs, testing, parts or other projects.
Recycle It Where Possible
If a board or component can’t reasonably be reused, we’ll explore appropriate recycling or material-recovery options where available.
Our philosophy is:
Repair → Reuse → Upcycle → Recycle → Disposal as a last resort.

Our goal isn’t to collect one particular brand.
We want to give unwanted inflatable paddle boards another opportunity to be useful.

There is no charge to donate a paddle board.

Why Donate an Old Paddle Board?
Throwing something away is easy.
Finding another use for it takes a little more effort.
Inflatable paddle boards commonly contain PVC outer materials surrounding an internal drop-stitch construction. That combination of materials is part of what makes inflatable SUPs strong and rigid when inflated, but it can also make end-of-life recovery more complicated than simply placing a board in a household recycling bin.
That’s why we want to focus first on extending the useful life of the board and its components whenever practical.
Sometimes that means repairing a board.
Sometimes it means another person taking on a repair project.
Sometimes it means salvaging useful components. Sometimes it means finding another purpose for the material. Every board will be different.

Our take-back program gives us another opportunity to learn from the equipment that comes through our doors while helping extend the useful life of paddle boards and components whenever possible.

Where can I donate an old paddle board in Calgary?
EVT accepts eligible old, unwanted and damaged inflatable paddle boards through our Calgary Paddle Board Take-Back Program. Contact us before dropping your board off for current drop-off instructions.
Can I donate a broken inflatable paddle board?
Yes. We specifically want to hear about damaged boards. Leaking valves, punctures, seam problems, missing fins, damaged accessories and heavily used boards may still have useful parts or repair potential.
Does my paddle board need to work?
No. Working, leaking and damaged inflatable paddle boards may all be accepted.
Do you accept paddle boards from other brands?
Yes. Your paddle board does not need to have been purchased from EVT.
Can I donate an inflatable SUP that has a blown seam?
Yes. Contact us with a photo. Even when a board isn’t practical to repair for use on the water, components or materials may potentially have another use.
Can I ship my old paddle board to you?
Yes, eligible boards can be shipped to our Calgary location. Contact us before shipping for instructions.
Will you pay for shipping?
For eligible donations, EVT may contribute up to $10 toward shipping costs. Approval should be obtained before shipping.
Do I get paid for donating my paddle board?
No. This is a voluntary equipment donation and take-back program. Once accepted, donated equipment becomes the property of EVT and may be repaired, reused, refurbished, resold, dismantled for parts, upcycled, recycled where possible, used for research/testing, or responsibly disposed of.
What happens if you repair my donated board?
If a donated paddle board can be safely and economically repaired, EVT may repair, refurbish and resell or otherwise reuse it. Giving usable equipment another owner is one of the ways we can extend its useful life.
What if the paddle board can’t be repaired?
We may salvage useful components, use the board for testing or educational purposes, upcycle materials, explore appropriate recycling options, or responsibly dispose of material that cannot practically be recovered.
Can I just drop the board off without contacting you?
Please contact us first. This allows us to provide current Calgary drop-off instructions and make sure we’re available to receive your donation.

Donation Terms:
By voluntarily donating equipment to EVT, the donor transfers ownership of the donated equipment to EVT. Donated equipment will not be returned and has no cash or trade-in value unless otherwise agreed to in writing.
EVT may inspect, test, repair, refurbish, reuse, resell, donate, dismantle, salvage for parts, upcycle, recycle, use for research or product testing, or responsibly dispose of donated equipment at its discretion.
Acceptance of a donation does not guarantee that the complete paddle board or all of its materials will be recycled or reused. Recycling and material recovery depend on the condition and composition of the equipment and the availability of appropriate recycling or recovery options.
